Occasionally the Reading Gatwick service was diverted via the West London and Brighton Main Line owing to trackworks. On 1st April 1984 Class 119 set L577 with car 51063 leading (presumably with 59422 + 51091) passes Coulsdon North. Ian Buck.

5th September 1986

Set: L420

With a Gatwick Express set coming up the Quarry Line, Western Region class 117 set L420 (51358+59510+51400), built by Pressed Steel in 1960, is seen with a regular Redhill to Selhurst Depot fuelling trip on 5 September 1986. Jeremy Chapter.

Working a diverted Reading to Gatwick Airport service on 1st April 1987 class 119 set L589 (presumably 51100 + 59414 + 51057) passes Coulsdon North. Ian Buck.
